Spent the day at MIB range shooting my Chapuis 375 H&H among other things. Michael was very good to let me shoot my double there today and especially since it was a 375 H&H. The reason for todays session was to find a good regulating load for this gun with a CEB BBW#13 solid. This gun in the past hated this bullet. I have good loads for standard soft points but wanted a good solid load. I have this gun for sale and one of the points of it selling was that it must shoot a good solid. I have never polluted it with steel jacketed solids. After a lot of playing with powders and loads Michael and I both as blind as we are shot very good groups at 50 yards with it. We also got BBW#13 Non Cons shooting in the same group.

The first target is Michael's and the other is mine. Sorry for the side ways view but I couldn't get them to rotate.

Very nice, Sam.

I'll be trying to duplicate that kind of grouping in Namibia next month using Somchem powders, likely S365 and a new Searcy .375H&H flanged magnum. Plan to take plenty of the non-con softnose with me to use on big antelope and, eventually, buffalo.

Best on the 4th,
Tim

Tim,

It takes time to find the right load and with a little more tweeking I good probably do better. My eyes are the biggest problem now trying to shoot irons. Going to put peep sights on all my doubles from now on. I just can't see the rear sight anymore. Hope you have good luck getting your's to regulate. I've only had 2 guns guns that took a lot of work to get to shoot the #13s well. Most you just use a good regulating load and go.

Sam,

I resemble that "eyes" remark. The new Searcy will have a peep sight (and a scope).

Am about to mail Butch a box of the #13 275grain non-con hollow points that includes a dozen of the 300gr #13 solids. We'll see.

Regards, Tim

Tim,

Good luck on the new gun. It will be interesting to see what Butch thinks of the BBW#13s.
