Finally managed some free time yesterday so I headed to the range with my 9,3x74R Chapuis. Loaded up some RWS brass with 286 Woodleighs and 63 grains of 4831 and Federal 215 primers. Put up a target at 50 yards and rested my elbows on the soft rifle case and shot 2 rounds. Both were low by about 4 inches but only about an inch apart so I thought maybe it was me. Shot another 4 rounds and my spotter recorded where each one hit. Right barrel hit right, left hit left.
All four went into 1.5 inches and just about an inch or so low! And this is with a stiff trigger on the left barrel. Moved the target back to 100 yards and POI was about 3 inches low and about 3 inch groups. All this with the factory iron sights.
Still more than acceptable for "minute of moose". We head out Wednesday morning for a 600 mile run up the Yukon and Koyukuk so I am hoping to break in the rifle properly by finding a nice bull.
Plan on installing the scope mount and the 2x7 Leupold European this winter and seeing how that works out.
Everything I learned about double rifles came from the generous members of this forum. This includes suggestions to purchase, who to purchase from (Dale), loads, how to shoot, etc.
Thanks guys.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

Another keeper. Good for you that it turned out so accurate.
