All:

Need some info from you guys.

I will be traveling to DFW with my Searcy .577 for the DRSS hunt next month.

On previous trips, I took the rifle in my double Pelican case so as it wouldn't get damaged by the airline.

However, when I got the rifle, Butch included an Americase - stainless steel about the size of a large brief case - it is the velvet interior model, NOT the foam interior.

My question is this: Would you guys be comfortable taking an expensive rifle on an airplane only in a velvet interior Americase, or would you you take it in a Pelican case (foam lines with the insert cut out to fit the gun perfectly) (That is MUCH bigger and bulkier).

Will the Americase keep the gun safe?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I TRAVELLED ALL OVER U.S, EUROPE & AFRICA WITH AN AMERICASE YOU DESCRIBE. PUT A LITTLE FOAM TOP & BOTTOM OF THE RIFLE IF YOU WANT.

AND BEST TO USE THE CORDOBA CASE COVER FOR ADD'L PROTECTION , ESP OF THE CASE.

I agree with tomo
The rifle will be save in the Americase. I would duck tape the latches down and put a good leather belt around the case through the handle. I would do this on any metal case.

Only think they will scratch and dent the devil out of your nice Americase, which is why I do not fly with mine.

However you travel with it be sure it is broken down.

I travel with an Americase and include it in another bag. I have had no problems with it. I had my case custom fitted to handle two Blaser R93's or a R-93 and a Blaser S2. Tapeing the lcoks with duct tape is a good sugestion

I don't know I must have a bad one. I got an Americase with my Krieghoff. It was set up for two barrels and scopes. It's nice but I wouldn't ship my gun in it. I wouldn't even take it to the range. It seems everything is loose and sloopy. When I transport my guns I'll use my Kalispel case and not worry.
