My first couple of shots are at 25 - to make sure I am at least in the ball park.

Then I move it to 50 yards and do it all there.

Then check at 100 yards.

That's what I do, other may be different.

I go straight to 50yds and then check at 100yds. I have only set up loads for 5 doubles so I expect there are folks on this site with a lot more experience than me.

I usually start at 50 yards. Load 2 rounds and see how they shoot. I then go up or down depending on how far apart the barrels are shooting. I don't worry too much about 100 yards and beyond as my eyes aren't so good anymore. If its regulated at 50 it will probably shoot good on out. After hunting in Africa for buffalo and elephant I have decided that 50 yards is a long shot. Anything over that is a fast follow up shot most likely. I have shot plains game to 150 yards with a double. If buffalo and elephant are your game get it perfect at 25 yards and you'll be fine.
