Has anyone checked into replacing the plastic grip cap on a Merkel double rifle with a matching steel one? Cost?

Did you get Matt's Merkel? Great deal! There are many grip caps available, but I don't know if there's a OEM size, or they all vary. Check Midway and Brownell's.

Merkel may also offer upgraded grip caps for their guns.

I had mine replaced with a beautiful blued steel grip cap showing an engraved Cape buffalo head a few years ago by Leroy Berry of Canyon Creek gunstocks in Hamilton, Montana. tu2 Can't recall the cost as it was part of having the double rifle restocked with some gorgeous wood. Connie, his wife, did a fabulous job in checkering the stock and forearm with, among other things, lion tails.
