Anyone remember what 9.3X74R ammo is used in regulation for a Chapuis double rifle. For some reason or other I think it was Norma Oryx? Rusty We Band of Brothers! Rusty, Forgive me if I'm wrong, and I may well be, but as I remember they were mostly regulated with the 232gr Norma Oryx. I think that's why so many are having issues in getting them to shoot to the sights. I may be wrong, as I often have been. Mine was supposedly regulated with 250gr RWS Cone Points. That what is says on the paperwork but since that ammo isn't available in the US it doesn't matter. I have seen several that were regulated with 286gr Norma's. I think Chapuis must try several types of ammo in each rifle to see which one is closest rather than regulating for a specific round. Mine was regulated with RWS 293gr Brenneke TUG's. It shoots great with that factory load, and most all 286gr factory loads and my 285/286gr loads. It also shoots the 232 Vulcans pretty good too. I have killed several deer and pigs, with it, including a big boar over 300 lbs, shot at 19 yards. The 232 Vulcan bullet is good enough for any game in the lower 48, IMHO. It is a tougher bullet than the Norma 286gr Alaskan bullet, baised on deer and pigs I have shot with both of them. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY | |||
