| Chapuis makes some nice ones in smaller rifle calibers, like .30-06. Browning made some in .270 and .30-06 that turn up used from time to time. Merkel also made some in the 8x57 and .30-06 class. Rizzini makes some in similar calibers in o/u configuration, as did Beretta and Zoli. S.I.A.C.E. did hammer guns in .45-70, which would make nice pig rifles. Look around on Gunbroker, Auctionarms, Gunsinternational and Gunsamerica and you'll find a plethora of them. |

| Yeah, the 460 runs over 60,000 psi. That could be done in an O/U but the cost is probably several times more than your friend is expecting. The easy way to go is a Remington double in 45-70. Only $900 plus another $100 the get the triggers right unless he can do that himself.
"Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

| I think the 9,3x74R is the best allround choice for a double rifle under 40 calibre. I have taken quite a few deer and wild pigs with mine, as well as black bear, turkey, coyotes, and even some varmint pests such as raccoons, armidillos, beaver etc. I have also used it for a lot in Zimbabwe for plains game, as well as cape buff and elephant. I have shot 7x57R, 7x65R and 8x57R doubles and fine them to be most useful as well. In fact I now have a double rifle drilling in 308x308x20ga., with an extra set of barrels in 308x20gax20ga. It has become my favorite rifle for the deer lease.
