Hello All,

There is some Hornady 470 NE ammo on GB.
Has anyone actually seen and touched it yet ?
All the usual suspects are still showing that it is coming soon. (Grafs, Midsouth, Midway etc)
If anyone knows of actual stock please let me know.
Thanks

I've shot a few boxes of the solids, but those came directly from the factory. I've not seen any softs yet.

new_guy,

How did you get it from the factory ?
Do they sell directly ?
The website directs you to the dealers.

Thanks

We were just testing the ammo in their development phase. Different loads, velocities, etc...

Test went well except for Crony Battery going dead. Vel. average around 2050 fps. I will have better readings on this with a new battery in the Cronograph. POI is about 2" low @ 50 yds. which is where my Rifle is sighted in at with my handloads that run aroung 2165 FPS. Giving up only about 100 FPS the Felt Recoil was quite a bit less than my reloads. Groups between left and right barrel had a spread of 2" or less with a figure 8 with one pair. Shots were fired off the bench and using shooting sticks. I hope to get some better velocity reading in a few days. The real test for this ammo will be in RSA next month hunting Buffalo.

OK, Here are some better readings,
DGX Avg. 2101 fps ES 57 SD 21
This is only 49 fps slower than the published Vel. of 2150 fps.
DGS Avg. 2104 fps ES 54 SD 21
This is only 46 fps slower than the published Vel. of 2150 fps.
Both DGX & DGS were extrmley accurate out of my Krieghoff @ 50 yds. I think Hornady has a winner! I'll see what a Cape Bufflo thinks of them in July.

I notice you highlight the fact that
"This is only 49 fps slower than the published Vel. of 2150 fps."

Yes it may be slower by an insignificant amount, but
it could be your Gun that is causing it to be slower plus
many other reasons.

I notice people are very quick to say XYZ re a companies product
but very little as to what other things may be the cause.

I have 2 Chrony's and they read 50 - 80 fps apart.

I have noticed tight bores on chambers slow the velocity down in 450/400's.

In someone else's gun in a different country and different temp, it
could be 20 fps faster !!!

Yes, I agree with you. There are many varibles in shooting that we have to assume. The results I posted are what I found with the equipemt I have. My concerns were they have a Velocity of around 2100 fps or more, POI be consistant with both Barrels, and they go where I aim. The reduction in felt recoil is a bonus. I doubt the Buffalo will notice the -50 fps in Vel. I understand the retail price on these to be about 1/3 of other brands.
