Two blonde girls were working for the city public works department.

One would dig a hole and the other would follow behind her and fill

the hole in. They worked up one side of the street, then down the

other, then moved on to the next street, working furiously all day

without rest, one girl digging a hole, the other girl filling it in again.

An onlooker was amazed at their hard work, but couldn't understand

what they were doing. So he asked the hole digger, 'I'm impressed by

the effort you two are putting in to your work, but I don't get it --

why do you dig a hole, only to have your partner follow behind and

fill it up again?'

The hole digger wiped her brow and sighed, 'Well, I suppose it

probably looks odd because we're normally a three-person team. But

today the girl who plants the trees called in sick.'

That's right. I seen 'em.

I'm afraid that this ends all suspicion that they were union workers.

Union workers?

Seems to me you should get your head out of your arse long enough to look around, especially at night. Electricity is brought to you by hard working union folks.

Or maybe when you cross a bridge, or look at a sky scraper, drive down the inter state? These are not built by Rat Labor.

Your hospital? School? Or maybe your water treatment plant? 40 hour work week? Overtime pay? Weekends? Yep, you probably need to wipe your eyes out when you get you head out!

bewildered animal Yeah, when I think of union labor, I think of peak efficiency, and getting the most out of every minute of labor paid for. Those road work crews that I keep passing with 15 guys standing around doing nothing for months on end, while maybe 2 guys are driving around some heavy equipment must just be a fluke.

I own a business, employ people, and could NEVER SURVIVE if I had to play by all those rules and BS involved with unions. Do you ever wonder why those union based industries, like the Auto industry, are the ones who can't seem to make it without help. I wonder why paying an auto worker $25/hr, plus benefits, to push the green button, then the red button, then the green button again, is a bad business move. BTW, the one who get screwed when the union inevitably can't be sustained are the one's who are retired and depending on reaping the rewards of their 30 years put in.

Say, have they finished with the Big Dig up in Mass. yet? How about that I-35 bridge that collapsed up there a few years ago? I guess those union guys were entitled to so many smoke breaks and we shouldn't worry about the bridge falling down?

Give me a break, and if you want to pick a fight, try not to start it in the HUMOR forum.

Perhaps he is one and missed that small but critical bit of info. Unions have ruined this nations manufacturing base and driven costs through the roof with their collective "givme, givme, givme" attitude.

I don't think "greedy CEOs" can break a company the way a greedy union can.

I guess the Pyramids of Egypt and the great wall of China have done pretty well without any involvement of the local 76 Cool

My guess is the King/Queen and emperors made out the best on those projects. All on the back of slaves and peasants I might add. If the Local 76 would have been there the slaves and peasants might have fared a bit better. dancing

One mild tongue-in-cheek dig about a union gets the typical thug/mob personal attack, complete with "rat" and "we own you" bravado.

I've had to kick a couple of IBEW reps off my property before. 'Had to use language that I don't like using, but that's all they understood. I believe most of the members work hard. The reps however are low-life scum that never matured past high school bully stage.

Was on a unlon job in Houston as they did not have enough union hands to finish it. We took our break on the floor we were on . Union electricians all had to meet on the break floor of a 20 story bold.
Their breaks went up too one hour as ours went 15 min.
FACT.

Hey, I thought the remarks about union efficiency were pretty humorous.
And FWIW, when union types sit around the break room, they brag about how much they're screwing the company. It's kinda a "can you top this" thing.

I was being FACETIOUS when I asked about the bad points, my basic point being the "worthless and lazy bastards with seniority" was actually the best that unions had to offer, it's all downhill from there.

I've never worked in or around a union job, but know plenty who have, on both sides, and it is clear to me, from an OBJECTIVE POV that the unions are responsible for more mediocrity, waste of company resources, increased job costs, and lack of initiative than all other causes of the above put together.

Now I agree with Andrew cempa. Let's enjoy the HUMOR forum, what I was trying to do above by making a sarcastic remark. Good day to all.

That is humor!!!!!!!!

I been non union construction since 1981!

Union motto= protect the mediocre and the bad AT THE EXPENSE OF THE EXCEPTIONAL. Socialist bastards need to move to Russia or China, maybe Cuba.

Without tax payer subsidies Unions would be history.

Unions= work volumes and skill levels are set by the lamest, laziest, most stupid people on the job site.

Morning mantra of the union worker: "What is the least I can do and still stay on the payroll."
