When I was in the Boy Scouts in the dark ages they taught us to keep an extra battery ( I forget the voltage,the square ones that fit in the larger flashlights w/ the spring pos. + neg. leads.) Also a bit of 0000 steel wool.Connect the steel wool to the 2 opposing leads + you will have fire,no matter how wet everything else is.That being said,your wood should be ready. If everything is wet then you start w/ a larger piece of wood + cut out the heart which will be dry.Then proced as usual. Sorry this is probably second nature to most here but if it helps even one who did'nt know then it was time well spent.
