I should video tape the various dogs that disturb me in my yard. If you gut shoot them with a 22 RF they sort of hunch up in the middle at the bullet strike then they run for home.
The really fun part is if I use the CCI CB caps there's not much bleeding, if any. Takes two or three days for the owners to realise there's a problem and get the dog to the vet.
Of course there's no saving the dog but it costs the owners some bucks and I'm not disturbed until the next dog wanders in.
In reality I've done this once when the dogs cornered my cat, who was on a leash, on my porch and gravely wounded him, as I watched. I just about cleaned the neighborhood out of dogs over the next few months. The only ones I didn't shoot were the ones on chains.

That is the most touching piece of cinematic art I have ever seen. I almost got a little misty eyed at the ending.

I will pass it on to others who apreciate "high art".

Funny you mention it Arky, I guess we've all had problems like that. I know a lot of folks get frustrated over the issue of FERAL or uncontrolled pets. Personally I never cared much for the slow death theory, except maybe for the owners. My favorite for dogs is the 30-30 or the 20Ga. Ithaca. In the FWIW dept., if your cat had not been on a leash on the porch it likely would have been able to escape the evil ogres who visited that day. Anyway, seems you took car of the problem. BTW, a CB short to the noggin will drop just about any mutt on the spot.

I dunno. That's a joke, right? Because if it ain't, I may want to organize a torch parade of local villagers. (Think the oldie "Frankenstein") (BTW, I once shot a dog on the public street of a village in front of the local A&P (before supermarkets and when all grocery stores had resident cats) who had just killed a kitten right in front of me. His undoing was snarling at me. I walked to the car parked 20 ft away and returned with his death warrant) Seriously, also, I hope you mean that wandering dogs tried to kill a cat minding its own business on its own property. Otherwise I'm organizing that torch parade!

That was disgusting and hateful!! BTW, I don't remember seeing that car, where do you buy one? And, is baiting with tuna or sardines considered legal and sporting? Nah, that would smell up the car, how about mouse in a jar?
