In the early 70's I had a lady friend that introduced to me the theory that all jokes are geared to someone else' suffering. She was a sensitive thing. Me,I never thought about it until she mentioned it.I know that now but I don't care.A good joke is a good joke. The best jew jokes I know were told to me by jews.Likewise the Irish,ad nauseum. As Mel Brooks once said,"The difference between tragedy + comedy is this. When I hit my thumb with a hammer,it's tragedy. When YOU fall down an open manhole,it's comedy."
It's about the ability to make fun of ourselves, nothing wrong with that.

The other day I was cutting a branch in the backyard and I was standing close to the spa and pool. I didn't notice just how close I was to the spa until I took another step and I found myself gasping for air in the cold 35 degree water. I banged up my leg and limped for a good two weeks, but you know what? When I got out completely soaking wet, I couldn't stop laughing at my dumb-assed self. Good medicine! Luckily I had taken out my i-phone and wallet before working on the branch and they were safe on the ledge of the BBQ, or it might not have been quite as funny!
