His story of British officer, spy, hunter and ornithologist Richard Meinertzhagen (sp?) Not a lot of African hunting in it, though "Dick" spent a lot of years there. What I found really interesting was Meinertzhagen's take on the whole Arab/Jew issue - he fought for a Jewish homeland and was there when it came to fruition. All the way back into the early 1900's he had an opinion on the region, and much of what he stated seems to have come to pass. | ||

Good book,if you get the chance,see the movie "The Lighthorsemen".Meinertzhagen is in it (character that is).WW1 flick,its crowning glory however is the finale,where the last mounted cavalry charge occurs by the Aussies against the Turkish guns in Palastine.Well worth seeing. Never mistake motion for action. | |||

If you can obtain a copy of Richard Meinertzhagen's "Kenya Diary" do it. A real classic that has not been reprinted for awhile. NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics. | |||
