Not really funny, except that people are still trying these kinds of scams... I got this email today: Dear sir, I am Mr George Craig, a banker with one of the major banks in England, United Kingdom. On the 21st of April 2004, a customer with an account in my branch, his wife and their only daughter were involved in a ghastly car accident that took their lives. Since then I have made several inquiries to the United States embassy in London to locate any of this our customer extended relatives, but this has proved unsuccessful. After several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to track his last name over the Internet, to locate any member of his family, hence I contacted you. I am contacting you to assist in repatriating the huge fund left in my customer account, or else the funds will be Confiscated or declared unserviceable by the bank. Our bank has issued me, been the account officer to the late customer, a notice to provide the next of kin or have the account confiscated. For the fact that I have been unsuccessful in locating the relatives for over one year, I seek your consent to present you as the next of kin to the deceased, so that the proceeds of this account can be paid to you. Be rest assured that all modalities for the successful conclusion of this transaction has been put place and it is 100% risk free. Thereafter, I propose that the funds will be shared in the following ratio: 50% for me, 40% for you while 10% will be earmarked for miscellaneous expenses by both parties. I shall ensure that all relevant information and legal documents that may be needed to actualize this transaction will be provided. All I require from you is your honest cooperation and keep the transaction top confidential, to enable us succeed. Too bad he didn't even know how to write $17,500,000. Not too much success as a scammer, I'd bet, when he's too uneducated to even know how to draw the carrot he wants to dangle in front of you. My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still. | |||
