Although I wasn't born until 1979 I know that is the truth. I was in school during the time they made it illegal to bring guns on school property. There was so much difference in the older teachers and the younger ones.

Amen!

I graduated from HS in 1976. My boy in 2004. The things he got in trouble for the VERY strict principal at my school would have laughed along with... or whacked you in the back of the head for.

Had my boy done the things I did in HS he wouldn't be eligible for parole for many years to come! Sad, sad, sad...

Smiler funny.

In my schooldays in 2000-2003, (secondary school) I brought atleat 3 guns to school at differnt times. And I had teachers and the principal comming over to check it out. See the action, grade the scope etc.... Smiler had it right there in the classroom. dancing right there in socialist Norway.

It was more practical to bring the gun to school, on the bus, then go to the gunshop in my break to get stuff fixed. Never had a problem. Never brought any ammo....

(My principal was on the same hunting team as me)

I guess all you can do is shake your head and laugh. I graduated in '69. One time a few of us were sent to the high school principal's office. If they'd only sent one of us I'm sure that individual would have sat patiently waiting for the principal, but three of us? NFW. We found a Chief's Special and a bottle of vodka (3/4 full) in the same drawer. One of my junior high teachers was a retired Maine/Canadian border guard; he kept a .38 in an inside-the-pants holster. We naturally assumed that most of our male teachers were armed (as did our parents). It was no big deal to take a gun to school as long as you let a teacher know you had it. BTW, all twelve grades were in the same building near the common.
