Some of the Indians on a remote reservation approach the new tribal chief and ask if it will be a cold winter. The new tribal chief has been to college and is totally lacking in any kind of Nature skills. To keep face, he tells the tribe members that, yes, it will be a cold winter and to gather wood. To cover himself he calls the National Weather Service and because he is a tribal chief he gets to speak to the top weatherman. He asks the weatherman: "Will this be a cold winter?" The reply is that it will be a fairly cold winter from all indications. The chief goes back and tells the tribe: " It's going to be even colder than I thought so gather more wood". About a week goes by and the chief decides to check once again with the National Weather Service. The top weatherman says: " The signs are even worse than before and it definitely will be a cold winter". The chief summons the tribe and tells them: " This coming winter will set records for being cold. Go out in the woods and gather every bit of wood you can find!" About a week later the chief again calls the National Weather Service. He asks the top weatherman: " Are you really sure it will be that cold this winter?" The top weatherman is a little pissed off at having his expertise questioned but he holds his temper and says: " It is going to be a fearful winter! The Indians are gathering wood like crazy!" | ||
