An Irish couple and an English couple are staying together at an inn in Western Ireland (fairly remote country in some parts). It happens that they hit it off and so the two men go riding one morning.

They come upon the remains of an old gallows. The Englishman says, jokingly: " Where would you be today if that gallows had its proper man?"

The Irishman calmly replies: " Riding alone".
