Well gerald416, you have to admit that it does not put us(the USA) in a very good light when our own people ask such STUPID questions. I took my pet llama Frank(my 11 week old,at the time, bottle baby) to Childrens Mercy Hospital in KC MO and heard the most STUPID QUESTION - "Is that a REAL llama?" from one of the security guards. I, of course, answered "Nope, it's fake, it's two midgets in a llama suit." I have also been asked if he was a - goat, emu, miniature llama, what kind of dog, ect..ect. People are STUPID in this country, even with as much money as we spend on education. As some have said "The only stupid question is the one that isn't asked". I disagree. Stupid questions are asked by STUPID people. I swear, I sometimes wonder how some people are smart enough to remember how to BREATH!(yes,I know it is somewhat involintary, but you know what I mean)

Gerald,

An Aussie friend sent me this list and I thought it was really funny. In response, an American friend sent the Alaskan jokes that I posted later but there was no mention of the nationalities of the enquirers.

Glad you liked them and, as far as Irishmen are concerned, it isn't just speaking - I have yet to hear any people who could sing better than them or write better poetry for that matter and the Brits have a lot of jokes about them.

Mehul Kamdar:

I smiled at the reference to poetry in your post.. The Irish are talkers and yes, we do admire poets (Modern Ireland gives tax benefits to poets who settle in Ireland) but in the matter of poetry, this Irishman defers to the English and to the Scots. (Bobby Burns) In the matter of speaking English, I have to say that as far as the Aussies are concerned, I have talked to Aussies (in my far distant youth) and struggled to follow the slang and the accent. I stared at the guy's lips trying to lip read until he must have thought I wanted to kiss him! No one will ever convince me that Aussies speak English! They have their own language down there! Before I get any flak I want to say that I love them all -even if they can't drink!
