"Over 300 million Americans and these are the only ones on offer?" Sadly yes, but only 30% of the registered voters will vote anyway. A politicians dream!
I have already talked about trump: "clever and cunning President of the United States? Oh no!". I heard that Denmark has Europe's only proper electoral system: only taxpayers vote. That's as close to classical, i.e. the right of democracy. Who keeps the state on the money - he manages it.
