Mort, I think that generally, people around the world have a high regard for thoughtful, and/or educated Americans.

However, if you really want to see why some of us have problems with the US, check out the start of the "liberalism is a psychology" thread in the 'Gun Ownership and Politics' section! If that isn't a joke, it should be making a lot of really nice, thoughtful people cringe!! If in fact it represents the thinking of the 'average American', then it's not surprising that many people around the world have a less than complimentary view of Americans!

Even the response to your initial post would suggest that bigotry is still alive nd well in the good ol' US of A!!
