A brunette, a redhead and a blond found themselves at the Pearly Gates.

"The stairway to heaven consists of a thousand steps," God told them. "You must all be tested. On every fifth step, I will tell you a joke. If you laugh at any of these jokes along the way you will not be able to enter heaven."

The brunette went first. She laughed on the 45th step, so she could not enter heaven.

The redhead was next. At step 200, she chuckled. She too could not enter heaven.

The blond started climbing the stairs, heard all the jokes, never laughed.

At the 999th step, just one step to go, she burst out laughing.

"Why are you laughing?" God asked. "I didn't tell you a joke on the 999th step."

"I know," the blond replied. "I just got the first joke."
