I am going to get either a Anschutz 1710D or a Cooper 57M .22 rifle to target shoot with. Right now all i shoot is air rifles, but i want the .22 in order to experience accuracy at 50 and 100 yards.
The cooper says it is test fired with Fed Gold Ultra Match ammo before it leaves the factory. Where is the best place to buy good .22 shells like that? Thanks for any help.

Doesn't matter to me if it is Mother Teresa. Good and cheap in most things is as hard to find as a good and cheap woman. No doubt about it. Don't remember saying the respondent was a cheap woman. Hell if she shoots, she's probably better than most I know!

Somebody told me to go ahead and just use regular shells, not the REAL cheap ones, but they don't have to be match grade either. Thanks for the replies, though.

Maybe he really just wanted shells for the 22 and at most ranges where the 22 are shot, you can find load of shells all over the ground..Won't cost a penny for a brick or more..
Free shells for the picking..

First, you had to post in the Humor forum, so I thought it was humorous.
The best inexpensive .22LR I know of is the Winchester Dynapoint. Not good for hunting though unless you put a small game point (SGP) on it. You can see an example in CCI's SGB ammo. Otherwise, I like Winchester's PowerPoint (PP) ammo. Works good in both pistols and rifles.
Yeah, there's a lot of cheap stuff out there, but not all good. However, the expensive stuff ain't all necessarily that good.
What you doin' with your ammo, targets, game, plinkin'?

I mostly target shoot with air rifles and i've killed a lot of starlings that enter the no fly zone here. My plans for the .22 will be the same, except to shoot bigger holes from farther away.

Your gun may like the Federal, Remington, Winchester, etc. but you can almost always find a "deal" somewhere. The Winchester PP ammo is about the best hollowpoint .22 LR out there. Of course I'm not talking about the various HV stuff, I never seem to see any of that on sale. I guess it is just too easy to sell at the regular price. Putting an SGB point on the Dynapoints works really well though even on pest birds like starlings and pigeons.
I should add that I lived for several years in WV, Durbin, Bartow, Elkins, Huntersville (boy has that changed), Thomas, Davis, and Beckley. Right across the mountain from us...

I thought it was funny about all the shells..I hope you were laughing... I would just shoot any that are on sale or if accuracy is the answer, I would shoot federal match ammo... You do not have to shoot at 100yds with the 22 just shoot 50 ft targets at 25yds and 50yds..If I am correct the Xat 25 would be equal to a 100 yds shot and so on... Good luck and make the shot...

If i lived nearby, i'd take you up on that. YOU should get you an air rifle an take care of them. I got em chased away from here. They used to build their nasty nests up in the loft of my garage causing a fire hazard because of all the dry grass they carried up there. But between the trapping and shooting them, you won't see one anyplace on my property. But this winter when they get good and hungry they'll drop in to grab a few bites of my yummy suet. Their last supper. I hate them because they are the ugly and mean and they are out of control.

I've had good luck with the hardware-store American Eagle red box stuff. Most of my .22s like it and one or two shoot it in a way they just aren't supposed to!
I can vouch firsthand that it will handsomely kill gophers (ground squirrels) out past 125 yards too! Cheap, accurate, kills bugs dead. What more could you want?
