Was traveling on a train from Stockholm north to Hudiksvalle. Train takes about 3 hours, and I was in the First Class cabin. Very nice, they had Internet connection toons and tables. Bring on my own, I was sitting on one side where they had a table for two, facing each other. The other side has a larger table than can accommodate 6. Across from me there was a family, playing cards. A young man was showing them tricks, which no one could guess. After a while he got up to go to the gents. I went across to them, and showed them a really neat card trick, very easy to remember. I said they should play this trick on him. Sure enough, he came back, and his younger sister played the trick! The poor boy was totally stumped! The rest of the family were laughing so much.

I know no one generally gives away trick secrets but since you are not in the magician's trade ( I think) what was the card trick? Never mistake motion for action.

Get a deck of 52 cards. Shuffle them. Ask the audience how many cards in the deck. They will say 52. Ask what is half 52 They will say 26. Say you are going to split the cards I half. Count 26 cards placing them face up on top of each other. As you count, remember the 7th card. After you have counted all 26. Pick them up and put them face down on the side. The remaining w6 should be in your hands. Place one face up. Let us assume it is a 6. You tell them you want to make that up to 10. So you have a 6, you add a 7, 8 ,9 and 10th card. It helps if you put the 7,8,9,10th cards face down, so all you can see is the first one face up, with a 6. Repeat this with two more columns - you will have a total of three columns. Put the remaining cards on top of the 26 you have already counted, and are face down. Only the top of each is visible. Now to confuse everyone, turn the cards which are face down face up and look at them You already know the 7th card from the beginning. Add all the top cards in the 3 columns. Let us assume you had a 6, 4, 8. Total is 18. Count from the top of the cards left over from the original 26 plus what was left. The 18 card will be the 7th you remembered from the start. Very easy. Even you lot can do it now!

Replies are funnier than the card trick. I like card tricks so I'll try it sometime. Zeke

Here is a simple one. Get a deck of cards, and feel the numbers on their corner with your fingers. Ask everyone if anyone can feel the numbers with their fingers without looking at the cards. They will try, non will be able to do it. It takes magic to be able to do it. Ask for the cards to be shuffled. Look at the one at the bottom, so you can see what it is. Put the whole deck behind you - make sure no one can look behind you - turn 3-4 cards from the back of the deck so they can face you when you sow the cards to the audience. Show them the card which is at the face of the deck - the one they already seen. With your fingers, touch the corners - both - to show them that you can feel what card it is. Tell them. Put the cards back behind you. Take the card that was facing you when you showed them the deck, and put it in front. Touch the corners pretending to feel for the numbers - you have already seen it. Tell them what it is. Repeat with the other 2-3 cards.

Remembering the line from a rube in a W.C. Fields movie. "Is this a game of chance?" To which Fields replies, "Not the way I play it, no." Never mistake motion for action.
