Sven and Ole leave Norway to immigrate to Minnesota where some of their relatives went.

As soon as they arrive in Minnesota, their relatives tell them to go down and register with the Minnesota Job Service, who will help them find a job.

So they go down to the Job Service. The man behind the counter asks Sven what he did in Norway. Sven states he sewed crotches in Bloomers in Norway for 5 years.

They ask Ole what he did in Norway. He said he was a Diesel Fitter for 15 years.

Next week the Job Service finds them a job.
At their first paycheck, Sven has been paid $5.00 an hour. Ole opens his paycheck and he has made $15.00 an hour.

Sven is furious and marches right down to the Job Service to complain. After venting on the clerk for half an hour, the clerk finally calms him down and says " Well lets look in your files and it should explain why the difference in pay"

He locates Sven's file. " Well it says here, that you were a seamtress in Norway with 5 years experience. That is considered Semi Skilled Labor, so for 5 years experience union scale is $5.00 an hour."

He then locates Ole's file. " Well here is our answer" says the clerk. " Ole has 15 years experience as a Diesel Fitter. That is considered skilled labor and that rates $15.00 an hour for 15 years experience"

Sven is frustrated. " I yoos don't understand dis here Minnesoda. I sew the crotches in the undervare and you give me $5.00 an hour. For $15.00 an hour, all Ole does and picks dem up and tosses them in da finish bucket and says, " Ya, dees'l fit her!"
