With all the sex scandals lately involving Catholic priests, in reality, who are the sick Godless assholes? It was not us who found humor in the "joke", but those sick Godless asshole priests who molested those young boys that prompted the "joke".

No body would have made these kinds of jokes if there wasn't an ugly history hidden behind it. We aren't talking about one or two priests being blamed for child molestation. We are talking about dozens and dozens maybe even hundreds.

I have a patient that is an oblate nun. She is pre Vatican II. (If anyone doesn't know what that is, it is traditional Catholic, i.e., these are the Catholics that believe the Pope is a heretic). I discussed this very thing with her and, sadly, her statement was quick: "They are simply GAY men, they are, and they are hiding in a religion to get away with it." "No recourse or punishment, and the blind eye is for one reason and one only, they are gay. It's no different than a bad cop turning a blind eye to another bad cop."

Look at it this way, even though there are a few bad seeds in the Catholic church, not all are bad, like you said. So, in that regard, it really doesn't affect you or the priests you've known.

Sculptor. I'm not a Catholic, but I did go to a catholic school, so I'm not unfamiliar with the tenets of the Church. I am however, a Christian who believes in no organized church. I've checked out several denominations and I see hypocrasy in all of them. I won't get into that as this is supposed to be the Humor Forum.
I can respect any man's belief in the religion of his choice. Never have had a problem with that. However, I do have problems with the intolerance by most of the Chrisian churches. You'll just have to forgive me on that point as it is how I feel. But that is something not germane to the thread.
However, and I mean no disrespect, but maybe if the Catholic Church allowed their priests to marry, then maybe they would not be facing the scandal they now have. Priests are human and humans get horny. It's a known biological fact. It just seems to me that there is something radically wrong here.

Dad heard about one of those woman teachers latching onto a 14 yr old. He said if a gorgeous babe got her hooks into him at 14 but couldn't brag to the other boys is abuse. THe woman above insisting on secrecy is almost too awful to think about.

Speaking for myself, I kind of started in the middle and worked up and down, depending on the quantity of alcohol I had consumed. Unfortunately one memorable after action hangover awakening gave true meaning to the "coyote ugly" joke. I almost quit drinking. .
