About 25 years ago I did a metal job for a contractor who was building the prison unit in Gatesville. He deliberately screwed me out of over $5000.00 + this was in the late 80's when none of us had any money. Lawyer told me,we can get your 5K but will cost you more to get it.I did'nt go to Granger,Tx. for years because I knew if I saw him I would shoot him. Long way around the barn;several years later I was in the supply house + they were talking about Clayton's funeral (reckon Hell called him down).Anyway the owner of the supply house had attended the funeral + told me about it.This Baptist minister told a joke at the graveside (damned near unheard of). Anyway it went like this. "In this small Texas town there were 2 brothers that were as crooked as a snake + were involved in anything from selling heroin to grade school kids to child porn, basically, anything goes. One day the one brother dies + the other goes to the preacher to do his burial sermon;he had to offer $1000.00 for it providing that somewhere in the eulogy that he mentioned that his brother was a saint.Come the funeral the minister was giving the deceased all kinds of hell, what a rotten sob he was, etc. But then earning his money he said,"But next to his brother,he was a real saint."Guess he knew Clayton too.

Now... how did he die? Were you in the area when it happened?
LOL

That's a good story and as we know, life is sometimes stranger than fiction!

No,thank God,I'm still free (until tax time). But an interesting addendum to this story just goes to show that karma,or whatever you want to call it exists. Two years after the fact I was doing an A.C. install for a young lady whose father was helping her move in. Turns out he was the prison doctor + we got to talking. Long story short;this was tilt wall concrete constuction.Hell it was a prison. You framed out every opening on the ground before the concrete was poured + the walls raised. You only have one chance. Now through negligence or powers from above a funny thing happened. It was built so that in the case of a riot, every guard would go into the captains quarters + push the big red button thus dropping steel doors all around the secure room. The problem here was that when the button was pushed;the steel walls fell down around the laundry room. Now the beauty of this was since it was solid concrete it could not be fixed;however until it was fixed, there was a $1000.00 a day fine. I felt a whole lot better after that.As Heinlein said "When the ship leaves port, all bills are paid."
