I had two morning sessions the last couple of days....

The dam is about 6800ft above sea level...

I forgot how much fun it is to chase these silver beauties on a 5/6 weight fly rod...

That looks like great fun. What part of South Africa were you fishing in?

ALLEN W. JOHNSON - DRSS

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

I've been to the little fly fishing village of Dullstroom high up in the Drakensbergs and seen all of the fly fishing shops. A very, very interesting place! Even had a waffle there! Gerhard: you need to crank your fly equipment down to a 3/4 rod and line for those rainbows. Maybe even a little 2 rod/line. That makes fly fishing for them even better!

Fishing and wingshooting in Africa, esp South Africa is vastly underrated.

There are some fantastic venues and operations here and they're all vastly under used.

I actually grew up in Dullstroom in the mid 80's.

This specific water I fished have fish of 8# + not sure if a 3/4 weight setup will be able to handle a brute but it will sure be fun to try...
