What sort of lures do you think the bream in Zim would hit? What about beetle spins?
Last year we saw hundreds of bream every day in one deep place in the river. I am going back in a couple of weeks. I want to give them a try with an ultra light.

Not yet. She has to sign the prenup before I do anything. I have to be extra careful, she is a lawyer. I am sure I will be fine. My lawyer just represented Tiger Woods wife!
Did I ever send you the video from the SAVE last year?

MARK H. YOUNGLarry,
Maybe a worm imitation. The real thing helped 3 of us fill 3 orange sacks during an afternoon in Zim in '07. Great fun those little rascles. Ultra light spinning gear with 4 lb. test would be about perfect.

L. David KeithYes Larry, I do believe Mark is speaking of "plastic worms." I'd use 4" Slider worms. One time I passed by a school of Tilapia (Bream in Africa) and as I stood there admiring them, I noticed a large, green Katydid on a nearby tree. I picked it off the tree and threw him into the water. Instantly, the entire school made for the snack. One fish grabbed the insect and the rest of the school tore bits off it while the lucky fish tried in vain to keep that from happening. My thought instantly turned to Rebel's Grasshopper imitation. They are small crankbaits with a clear lip. Cast it out (it floats) and twitch it on the water. If there are any Bream/Tilapia around, you should find out real fast. As mentioned, I'd take some Beetle Spins and assorted Mepps/Rooster tails with me. Good fishing, David

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

TCLouisBeetle spins will catch anything, anywhere.
The orangish and black body especially.
White Strike King Micro spinner bait
coupla small floating Rapalas
If that does not do it they AIN'T worth catching
Don't limit your challenges . . .

Gerhard.DelportSmall white bucktail jigs but spinners like mepps and abu reflex would be the best.
I would not go lighter than 10lbs braid set up as the different species of fish found in the Zambezi are really hard fighters.
