my buddy and i are planning to go silver salmon fishing in yakutat. can anyone recommend a good guide? would like to arrange 3 days of fishing. also what is the best month for silvers in this part of alaska? planning this for 2011.

Been there every year for the past twenty some odd years. Depends on what and where you wish to fish, whether the river or the bay [ocean]
I do not use a guide so cannot speak to the river w/ guide but if you want to fish the ocean for silvers or a mixed trip with salmon and halibut I would highly recommend Mark Sappington - Yakutat Charter Boat Co.

The silver run is supposed to peak about the middle of Sept - we came back on Aug 31 this year, Delta pulls the non-stop ANC-ATL off on Sept 1st if that is important to you. We caught good numbers of very strong fish but no really big fish this year, I thinks some 16 - 16 1/2 pounds would have been about the lartgest.
