rod, reel and line for Alaskan rivers?
what kind of rod, reel and line do they use in the big Alaskan salmon rivers?

i'm not looking for which brand, but more length, weight class, line capacity/strength etc.
and i'm not speaking of some particular rivers, just hope to go there some day.

It depends on what type of salmon you are fishing for Wink For coho and sockeye salmon, a medium to medium heavy rod with 15-20 pound test will serve you well. For Chinook salmon, go to a heavy weight rod, heavier reel and 25-30# test.

The line weights I mentioned are for mono, most folks using braided lines go to double the weight of mono as you can pack plenty on a spinning reel, and there are some advantages fighting snags.
