He wasn't able to weigh it but he laid a twig next to it and broke the twig off to the same length as the fish and later measured it at a little over 21 inches. He took one photo of it and released it back to the lake. He thinks it was about 5 lbs which would make it the brookie of a lifetime. My father fished his whole life for a big brookie and never broke the 3 lb mark so my brother couldn't bring himself to keep "Dad's" fish. There are few fish prettier than a Brookie in breeding colors.
There used to be one in a beaver pond where I fished in S. CO and I would guess him to be 18", but nothing like this fish you posted.
Bet that is way up there in biggest Brookie in CO.
