About Turnips & Rutabagas

quote:
THE TURNIP HAS, WITH GOOD REASON, been a staple of the human diet for millenniums. Evidence found near Beijing, China, indicates prehistoric cave dwellers wrapped turnip in ice; in ferns or wild onions and steamed them in wet leaves placed on stones in the fire. Cave paint created several thousand years later heap Aurignac, France, show turnips being boiled in clay pots.

Turnip patches make pretty good deer food plots too.

ALLEN W. JOHNSON - DRSS

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

Sop are you suggesting it would not be a good staple food for cave dwellers? How about if they just kept a lot of small fires burning everywhere?
