Many people enjoy falcon hunting here. Here are a few videos of some of the training they do. They have these specially made model airplanes which are battery operated. They have a release attachment on them, to which a dead pigeon is tied with a small parachute. They fly the plane as long as they wish for each particular falcon, and then they slow down and as the falcon catches the pigeon they release it. Some of these videos are taken with a Gopro I have installed on the plane. In one you can see the falcon mistaking the drone for a bird, and almost ran into it. Saeed, I like seeing the bird brought back to the staging area before is is allowed to "catch" the bird. That has to work so much better than all the prior methods of training. Birds carrying of pigeons or game birds when flown on wild birds had a much greater loss rate, and all too often they were lost permanently. | |||
