For anyone passing through Boise who has an interest in falconry, I highly recommend stopping by the falconry museum at the birds of prey headquarters just outside of Boise. This is a separate building from the one that houses the live birds, this one is dedicated to falconry only and has a great deal of falconry history and artifacts. There is a fantastic wing of the museum that was supported by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, son of Sheikh Zayed, the Founding President of the UAE. The curator is a very interesting fellow named Kent Carnie who is as passionate about falconry as you can get. He is more than happy to chat about any of the artifacts and history in the museum. It is well worth the mere $4 admission fee. I think most people don’t hear about this because well, falconers hunt, and the living bird exhibit suits more peoples fancy. I live here and only heard about it as an afterthought. | ||
