Looking for a falconer in MT near Billings who would be willing to take on an apprentice interested in the sport of falconry

There's still a licensing process to own a falcon or hawk isn't there? I assume you could find local falconers through that process through the FWP.

A former coworker of mine in Bozeman started this way. He found a guy through the FWP that was willing to help him out. He trapped a hawk with a white mouse in a screen cage with fishing line loops. He said it only took about 1 hour! First one died (it was almost dead when they caught him), second one was nailed by a massive owl on its first hunt but survived. Haven't talked to him in five years but I understand he's still hawking.

I grew up near Zimmerman Trail and Rimrock Road in Billings and there was a guy with four falcons in his back yard (Beartooth Drive??). Of course this was only 30 years ago.
