Gentlemen, I would be grateful for you taking the time to help me in a little quest! Knowing nothing about the use of Falcons in the Desert kingdoms of the Middle East - other than that they are a large part of the cultural history of the region, it would be great to discuss preferred hunting methods & species etc. with someone who has personal experience of this historic and noble hunting tradition. Can anyone out there be of help? I am especially interested in trying to obtain some iconic images of this form of hunting. Kind Regards Ian N Farrington (England) Just taking my rifle for a walk!........

Hi Ian please contact me, I can help with the info you need. You can also contact Peter Bergh, Royal Shaheen Events, he is a great guy and runs a great company doing some awesome things with falcons. If you google him or check him out on Face Book you will be amazed at what they are doing. Have a look at http://www.rofalconry.com/index.php And their parent http://www.falcons.co.uk They breed a lot of falcons - mostly hybrids for middle eastern royalty and use the funds generated to support breeding program's for reintroduction of wild species. They have also developed to Robaro - a drone in the shape of a bustard which is used for training falcons as well as competition flying.

I was in Botswana last Sept / Oct and visited Nxai Pan, Chobe & also Vic Falls These were taken at Nxai Pan national park. They are Lanar Falcons. While we were in the Toyota by the water hole, we heard the choking squeal above us and looked up to see the falcon fly over with dove in its talons! Just missed the kill strike by a second or two. Saw another one later on - again the squeal attracted us to the strike. Litterally thousands of doves & sandgrouse at the pan. "When the wind stops....start rowing.
