Guys I have a pile of this powder and would like to find a load for my CZ 527 Varmint. I have tried the 39gr Sierra's and they were barely MOA. I loaded from 25.5 to 27gr and got my best group at 27gr. Wondering if I should try 27.5 and 28gr?

I have now loaded some 32gr Vmax with 28, 28.5, and 29gr of 748 for my next test.
Thanks Greg

Great powder for the 223s, so it should work well in a 204...old data for the 223, showed heavier charges than you see today....

In my Ruger #1 I use 28.3 grs of 748 under 40gr Vmax's. Groups under an inch most of the time.

BL-2 is fouling nasty powder that leaves cobwebs in my bores like no other powder. I still have part of the first can that I ever bought. I have always found other powders to do the job especially in a small bore rifle.

I have used some old load data of 30 grains of W 748 with 50 to 55 grain bullets in the 223...

they shot well.. velocity wasn't as fast as you'd think...

no pressure problems...

if BLC2 and W 748 are NOT the same powder, I can't think of any two powders that as much alike in burn rate, with the exception of H 414 and W 760....

Just work up in half grain increments...or consider 3/10 of grain increments just to be safe...

W 748 will not pressure spike in my experiences with it...it seems to plateau instead...

Well,Love it when a plan come together!!

Loaded and shot the 32gr Vmax bullets in the CZ 527 Varmint, 28,28.5 and 29gr of 748.
Shot at 100 meters , 3 into 2 holes with the 28gr load, the 28.5 had 2 touching and the 29gr load had 3 separate holes, but quite close together. All three acceptable. but the 28gr a thing of beauty.
A huge improvement over the 39gr Sierras, 40gr Berger, and the 40gr ballistic tip.
No just have to sit down and load a couple hundred. FS

Save yourself the trouble and load 27.5 grains of Accurate 2520 behind the 39 grain Sierras in the .204. End of story! If your .204 doesn't like that load it is an anomaly(sp) meaning "weird one"!! Wink Wink GHD
