I recently traded for an older AR15A1 sporter called the SP1 that copies the M16 of the vietnam era. New bore and I am interested in developing a clean burning accurate loading compatible with this action type. I use IMR4895 in my 08 & 06 Garand. It seems very clean burning. LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

IMR 4895 is a surplus military powder or look alike. It is clean by design to work the best in semi-auto and automatic weapons....Ball C2 works too....for the same reason. I like Varget and Win 748 too. The year of the .30-06!! 100 years of mostly flawless performance on demand.....Celebrate...buy a new one!!

I like the two 4895 powders but want to use a ball powder for easy metering. 748 is most likely the direction I will take as the muzzle flash of H335 is a bit much. Leftists are intellectually vacant, but there is no greater pleasure than tormenting the irrational.

rickt300: Ramshot has two very good ball powders that burn clean and meter extremely well. X-Terminator has about the same uses as 748 and TAC is supposed to give the highest velocities with heavy bullets and faster twist barrels. ![]() "No one told you when to run; you missed the starting gun."

I use AA2230. Works great and have had no cleaning issues. I use IMR4895 for my .308, and that is also a clean powder. W748 and W760 worked ok for me, but seemed to leave a lot of residue.

I have tried a bunch of different powders for both my RRA cabine, and my RRA Varminter. Both like Varget a lot for accuracy, and for the lack of residue. All of the different ball powders I tried left more residue than did the Varget loads.
