I have a Remington 700 VLS in 6mm and it is an excellent shooting rifle. The rifle is kind of heavy, so you hardly notice the recoil. I put a BSA scope on it and I have only taken it out once to shoot. The farthest I could shoot that day was 50 yards, so I used that distance to sight the scope in. I was using factory 90 gr soft point ammo, I could cover three shots with a nickel all day long. I couldn't get dime size groups but I think that was my fault. The trigger could use some lightning up. It feels around six pounds. I would recommend this rifle for target and varmint shooting from a rest. It is heavy to tote all day long on a hunt though.

makeminestainless... I really like both Remington and Savage varmint/target guns, but the Savage 12BVSS in .243 is a great choice, in my opinion. I have one, and it loves 75 grain V-MAXs -- I think my working load for the 75 gr. V-MAX is 46.5 gr H4350 and Federal GM210Ms -- check that, though...I'm recalling from memory. It's pretty, accurate, relatively cheap, and it has a trigger that you don't need to replace. I can't think of anything my Remingtons offer over the 12BVSS -- the BVSS is every bit, and even more accurate, than some of my other Remingtons.
