I have had good success with RL-19. So if you can get some try it out. My load using 120gr Nosler's 51.0gr pf RL-19 I shoot this in a 98 mauser and it shows no sings of pressure. With 129's I back it off a couple of grains. John Handmade paracord rifle slings: paracordcraftsbypatricia@gmail.com

Do you mean the SP or the SST? Hornady does not make a Single Shot Pistol bullet (SSP) in 6.5mm. In my 6.5x55s, Re-22 is THE powder with anything from 120 grains on up. It provides a terrific blend of velocity and accuracy, especially with my favorite weight (140 grains). The key to reloading the 6.5x55, at least from what I have found, is matching the length of the bullet to the length of the throat. Some 6.5x55s have short(er) throats, like the Remington 700 Classic, but most have long(er) throats, like the Howa 1500 and Winchester 70. My push-feed Winchester 70 Fwt has a long(er) throat and shoots its best groups with bullets weighing 150 to 160 grains. The 129 grain Hornady shoots better than the shorter bullets, but not as good as the longer bullets. The 130 grain Barnes X is long enough, but I haven't got it to shoot good groups yet. Jeff

Hornady's SST works fine on deer but I prefer the old interlock. This is true for .243 to the 30 cals. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." This may be of interest to some in regards at least to the 129GR. Interlock. My Wife shot a six point yesterday with her 6.5 Swedish Mauser shooting the 129GR. Lt. Magnum. I cleaned the Deer yesterday afternoon, (my job but she is a good cook), the Deer was broadside, she shot him in the shoulder, smashing it taking out a lung & part of the other & some other vitals, breaking the opposite shoulder & stopping under the skin. I found the mushroomed bullet & I have not weighed it, but it has likely lost 50% of its weight. Considering what the bullet did, that is quite good, I think!
