A new Creedmoor was born and I picked it up from Score High on Friday Big Grin It's the same configuration as my competition gun except with a McMillan Remington Varmint stock. I should say, it's the same as the competition gun I HAD until we were involuntarily separated a month or so ago.

Keep you eyes and ears peeled for this rifle and a bag full of shooting gear including some 8X42 Leica Geovids that some scumbag may be selling...

I had a rifle being built as a hunting rig, but will have to pull double duty for a while until a new one is built by Charley. The stock is a point of contention. When you order a McMillan stock, you pick some colors. You really don't know how it's going to turn out. I really liked this Bell and Carlson I had on a 7 RUM colorwise...

...so I tried to duplicate it. I should have put more black and tan. I went 70% gray, 15% black and 15% tan....

...it's too much gray for me.

Well, I took it out today with some factory ammo and some ammo I had loaded up for the stolen gun. 139 grain Lapua Scenars and 41.2 grains of H-4350, the same as the factory ammo in charge and OAL to the ogive. My ammo didn't shoot that well. I just shot some 3-shot groups and cleaned in between and called it a break in session. The first factory ammo group was about 1/2" at 100 yards. I shot another about the same after the first cleaning session then moved on to my ammo. After shooting a few more groups and cleaning, I set a target at 200 yards and shot a group with my ammo. It shot about a 4" group.

I then decided to shoot a factory ammo group.

It just made this big hole at 200 yards. I really thought is was a fluke, so I moved over to the clean target right next to it and shot 3 more shots with the Hornady Factory 140 grain A-Maxes...

Rediculous.

Very nice grouping for any ammo! How is velocity compared to what you can get with handloads?

Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too!

Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.

I didn't shoot over the chrono yesterday. I was just really going out there to do the unnecessary barrel break in ritual Big Grin.

In the last rifle the factory loads chrono'd from 2830 to 2850. I duplicated them but used the Scenar. I'm going out today to try seating some of my leftover handloads a little deeper. If they don't shoot like that A-Max ammo, I'll have to change bullets. I'll chrono the factory against the handloads and try to match the factory.

Thanks for the condolences SD.

It was pretty tough to deal with emotionally. A lot of work went into the rifle and accumulating the gear. It was like losing a family member. That sounds abnormal!

I went out today and tried to adjust the seating depth of my existing loaded ammo to find accuracy, but the original load of 41.2 grains didn't get any better. I had to drop it .3 to 40.9 and it shot great!

Even in brass prepped a little different...

I have about 125 rounds at 41.2. It shoots well enough to use on steel. Tested drop data at the end of the range session out to 760 yards. Made some nice hits on steel with 2825 fps input into the ballistic program. It was also the first time using the Leupold M5 knobs set up in mRad. Worked great. .1 mRad click graduations.

Thanks Vapo!

Me neither!
It Was amazing to see one big black mark after shooting the last shot! And after that, the second confirmation group was a great feeling.

RC,

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your rifle and binoculars.

That is a real set back!

I have a friend who just made some 300 yard head shots with a 24 inch DPMS AR-10 chambered in 6.5mm CM using 129 grain Hornady factory ammo.

Once he broke in the barrel, he was embarrased to tell me what it was doing, and this from a semi auto AR!

Would you give me a quick run down on how to duplicate your stolen and/or replacement rifle? Barrel, action, magazine, stock, muzzle brake, scope, trigger, etc?

Think I need one.

Andy

There's a couple of ways.

1. Find the scum who has mine and either beat him to death and take it (most cost effective and best outcome)

2. Call Score High Gunsmithing at (505) 292-5532 and have them build The Palidin.

McMillan A-5 (choose your colors)
Remington 700 action
Brux stainless 1-8 light Palma 26" score high tactical brake
Badger bolt knob and bottom metal
AI magazines
20 MOA picatinny rail
Leupold Mark IV FF LR/ERT 8.5-25
super low rings
Anti-cant bubble
Harris S-LM bipod 9-13"

I just hope your rifle is recovered, and that some Druggie has the crap beat out of him in the process...

then let the Dick get a little jail time.. and when he gets out, he has an A Hole this Big ( )

Thanks. It's a huge financial loss, but the insurance I have is absolutely amazing.

I would recommend Safeco to everyone here.

I have a good policy that is for full replacement value. I provided a police report and a list of values and reciepts. They had a check out to me in about a week after they got the copy of the police report. They were great to deal with. I have had losses before and had to work with adversarial insurance companies. That doesn't make things any better while you are dealing with the loss.

I was heading to a big precision rifle match in Sacremento on a Thursday. I was out checking some drop data on the Tuesday before, came to work and in 1 hour my truck was broken into. Poor timing.

Had to cancel flights and such immediately. Sucked. I was really looking forward to the match.

I had this hunting style Creedmoor on order about 6 months ago luckily, so I'll be able to use it and not have to wait another 6 months for one to be built.

Charlie IS a real craftsman, isn't he? It's funny we don't hear more about him on the national scene!

RC,

What does your Paladin weigh with scope and empty magazine? I dont see it in the specs.

Nice rifle!

Thanks!

What is your opinion of the Accuracy International stock?

I see Charlie offers them also?

I suspect it is heavier than the McMillan.

I think it's a personal preference type thing. You should shoot someone's rifle and see what you think. They feel different.

Rick:

Oustanding shooting! I'm glad to see the Hornady 140gr A-Max factory ammo is so accurate. Will you be shooting any of the Hornady factory hunting ammo in the future?
Sorry to hear about the loss of your rifle.

Thanks Bill!

I'm a handloader. The only reason I have the factory ammo is that I have a buddy who shoots for Hornady. I needed some brass so I bought 2 cases of ammo from him for the brass.

The ammo shoots really well as you can see and that was Hornadys intent when they created the cartridge. For a non reloader to be able to shoot matches and be competitive. The guy who won the Snipers Hide Cup shot the factory creedmoor ammo. My buddy is a top shooter and doesn't load.

Speaks for itself

RC,

Have you competed in tactical and/or F-class against Tub-2000 rifles?

Since I am not a HP competitor, I have only shot against them once, in Arizona, at a McBros event where I was the guest of one of the instructors.

Very fast reload. Two were .308 (law enforcement) and one Army reserve HP competitor who shot a 6mm X and mounted a scope on his rifle for the event.

I think a 120-129 grain 6.5mm would have given the 6X some competition.

The Tubb is at least $1500 more than one of Charlies rifles.

I've not seen anyone using one at the sporting rifle match or at our precision match. Most are using the paladin style config or as you say, something built on an AI type stock.

The creedmoor and other 6.5's like the .260 are tough to beat!
