Tell us how long they are after you fire form them. I use Remington 260 brass in my 260. I shoot a 243, 260, 7mm-08, 308 and 358 and the headstamp helps keep them straight. If your brass comes out short the 243's are .010" longer to start.

Either of you tried Lapua 243 brass in the 260? Wondering how the capacity compares to the other brands. I have used Rem 260 and necked down Win 7mm-08 in my 260 AI and the Win brass has a little more capacity.

HW, I have necked up some RP .243 just to see how they work, no problems. I plan on getting some Lapua .243 to do the same, I'll let you know what the diff. in cap. is.

I used the Lapua .243 brass for Browning LowWall in .260. Good brass. Just put some 243 Lapua through expander and dies for 250 AI.

Hey Mark. I've just started working loads up, been bbl. breaking & forming brass. So far I'm looking @ 3100fps+/120grNBT, 3350fps+/100grNBT & 2700fps+/142SMK (only 1 load so far w/ the 142SMK). These are from a 27"bbl./1-8 @ 80deg. temp. This is a target/varmint rig so I will only be shooting match & varmint bullets, no NPs or the like. I think the .260 or .260AI is a great choice for a new hunter or ladies rifle, much better than a .243 for deer size game (JMO). I'm off to Mozambique in a week & when I get back I'll dive into the .260AI & report my findings.

Hey Mark, I'm one gunning it w/ my M70/.404 Jeffery. I'm using the exc. 380grNF & 400grBarnes solids @ 2200fps. I've been practicing alot w/ it on & off the bench. It's a thumper but not any worse than a 9# .375 (it weighs 10.25# scoped & loaded). Both loads will break 1" @ 100 if I'm having a good day, under 2 1/2" @ 200, about my limit w/ this rifle & 5x scope as drop is 7" @ 200 & 24" @ 300 sighted on @ 100. I don't expect to have to shoot anything farther than 200 though & the buff @ 1/4 of that. Post hunt report will definetly follow.

Fred, Are you having to process the brass other'n resizing it? Neck reaming, etc? I too have a ton of .308 that I was considering making into .260 but have never gotten a round to it. Thanks! Mark

redial, I just sized 3 cases & loaded them up. Chambering was difficult, I think the necks need a bit of turning, they are too thick in my chamber. My fireform load showed signs of pressure w/ the bullet seated in the lands. More details later(3 weeks or so).

Savage, the fired .308 cases measure 2.020" A bit longer than the .243 or .260, but I would expect that, the brass has to go somewhere? Volumn is the culprit, the .308 cases hold a whopping 4 grains less! Obviously I'm only going this route for emergency purposes. I'll stick to .260 or reformed .243.
