Looking for a little advice. Going to get a new Hart Barrel for a Stiller action...Clearly 25 caliber.

I would like to shoot 87gr to 120gr with 95% of my weights being 110, 110, and 120gr. If needed 87gr can go by by.

What twist do you guys have and what was your results?

1-10" will do you proud.

Hart is right up there amongst my favorites.

Build for balance,in accords to the stock pattern and barrel contour commensurate to same.

I've no qualm with a 22" 25-06,though I disfavor them longer than 24".

Bisquit, if you take the advice of busheler, you'll be in need of my mobile extractor--just like him. Don't go there, it's REAL dark.

Damn, I thought the industrial sized mobile extractor might work--w/ a little manteca help, but now I'm beginning to think that no amount of pulling force or grease will dislodge your head from your ass. Sorry to pronounce you, the first lost cause. I know it's dark in there, but just think, mushrooms grow in the dark.

Wow. keep embarrassing yourself. You're damn good at it. Hence my offer to let you use my industrial sized mobile extractor. I know it's going to tax it's limits, but what would you be if you didn't try ? Well, you'd be you. A desperate soul w/ a severe case of head permanently lodged up their ass. PLEASE let us help you. A mind is a terrible thing to waste and if we're unsuccessful, we'll use cheap foreign ammo to put you, and the rest of us out of your misery.

Wow, your mind really is as shallow as your asshole. Hope it smells better.
As for the stench, we can fix that. 55gal drum of manteca, Industrial sized mobile extractor, lots of rope and help and you--if you're lucky--- just might escape yourself.
Imagine a world where every breath you took didn't smell like your ass. Where you could see the sunrise--not through the walls of your sphincter-but really. When you took a bite of some food it didn't have shit on it or smell like your ass. Wouldn't that be great? For the first time in your life you could live as others do. WOW.

Biscuit, since you mentioned using 120 grain bullets I would advise using a 1/9" twist barrel, especially if you want it less than 26". The faster rate of twist will allow you to load the heavy for caliber bullets without pushing it real hard. A 24" tube is probably the shortest this cartridge needs, and if you want something shorter you should probably opt for 257Rob. Just my 2c worth.

With a 1/9 would I still be ok with the 110gr offerings?

You should be good to go with any bullet between 87 and 120 grains with the 1/9".

After speaking w. Hart I've decided on 24" length and a 1/10 twist. Thanks for the input guys. Much appreciated.

I wouldnt go less than 24" and would personally go 26" you can always get it shortened.

I dont know of any smiths that can lengthen a barrel.

I personally went with a 26" 1:10 twist Lilja stainless steel when I built my .25-06. This was my gunsmiths recommendation, and I'm happy I went this route. While I appreciate the SS Synthetic, I still prefer Wood and went that route with my .25-06. Unfortunately I don't have any groups to post yet or any animals. I did however take a pronghorn doe last season with the rifle it just wasn't quite the finished product yet.

P.S. the scope is now mounted in a Leupold one piece base and low rings.

Nice slim stock. I like light color wood. Just a little drop at the heel?

Here is mine. 24" Hart barrel with 1 in 10" twist. Shoots 100 grain TSXs at just over 3300 and around .75" at 100yrds.

Good looking rifles posted above.. tu2
I have a Weatherby Vanguard 25-06 factory rifle that has a 1-10" twist.
I'm concentrating on the heavy 25 cal bullets for this rifle.
Both the Sierra and Speer 120 grain bullets shoot 3 shots into 1/2" groups at 100 yards, using a Weaver V-16 set at 16x. The BC's of those two bullets are as good as it gets.
Three powders deliver equal accuracy: H-4831SC, RL-22, and 7828.
I do love this rifle, although a bit heavy.
