I use 100 grain hornady interlocks in my 243. No failures on deer and antelope.

I shot a deer with a 130 grain ballistic tip in a 270 and will never use a ballistic tip again for big game. That deer ran around in circles until I pumped another bullet or 2 in it.

Just started testing them with IMR-4064. They are accurate.

I've shot a few groups with my Ruger M77 243. My rifle didn't seem to like them as much as the 87 gr V-max. Performace-wise, I have no idea as I have only shot them at paper. BTW I was using IMR 4895.

They work just fine...

Lots less chance of blood shot meat tho, if you have them at 2700 fps or less at the Muzzle... over that speed, they become explosive....

they will open up as low as 1500 fps....

personally, I like them better than partitions in the 6mm bore...

I've shot both whitetail and pronghorns with them. Accuracy was good and animals dropped in their tracks.......not bad.

Me, my dad, nephew, step brother, step brothers wife, 10 year old boy and lots of other friends have all killed deer with these out of 243's, some of us several deer with them for several years now.

If you put the bullet through the shoulders with this load you can forget tracking because there wont be any.
They will drop in their tracks from up close to over 300 yds.

I've used the bullet a lot in the 6/06 (3500) but not at all with the 243.

I've used it from close to 633 in the 6/06 and it works just fine.

I do believe in the 243 it would work extremely well.

Thanks fellows, I will load up some today for testing. I can't decide on a load but I'm thinking 43.5 or 44 grns of imr4350. Do you think that is too much powder ? I've loaded .85 grn bullets with 45 grn of imr4350 for 33337 in my 22" bbl. Would appreciate your opinion on this before I put the powder in.

Why not sneak up on you max load a half grain at a time? Or even a grain, that would be better than picking a number out of the sky and trying it.

Hard luck-if going with the 95 and IMR 4350- then I would start at 40 and work up, I would imagine 43 is about all you're gonna want to put to it. You should be in the 29 to 3 range with this load.

sounds like that 270 hit deer was just trying to decide where it wanted to lay down and die!

Deer Hamburger?

Seafire, I have shot 3 deer with 6BR, 1 at 200 yards, lung hit, 70TNT, ran about 50-60 yards, put on the brakes and fell over.

Another 2 at 200/400 with 105's, spine hit, and double lung respectively-that ran maybe 25 yards hit hard.

BUT, that bullet close is very explosive yet I do love its accuracy.

I also have a bit of experience with 85 BTHP sierras-a bomb, lethal very much every time.

Yet, I have heard glowing reports on the 95 BT and thought it might be a GREAT 6BR deer load giving expansion on long shots, but holding together closer in, all the while a larger wound channel than say a partition.

If YOU were using a 8 twist 6BR, would you put the 95 BT at the top of your list for deer?

I also thought the 107's would hold together better, but perhaps the 85's might shed more velocity way out there.

What would you use for all ranges? IF you wanted one to do all?

Thanks.

in .243, try 33.5 grains of varget with the nosler ballistic silvertips. mine shoots under a half inch with that load.

33.0 to 35.0 is the range i used, half a grain increments.

I am loading the 95gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip with 42.5grs. of H-4350 (THIS LOAD IS ABSOLUTE MAX IN MY RIFLE AND MAY WELL BE TOO HOT FOR ANOTHER RIFLE). Accuracy is great (5 shot 100 yard groups of 5/8" are quite common) and the velocity out of my 22" Barreled Ruger is 3071 (with extreme low extreme spreads and standard deviation). I am loading these .005" off the lands in my Ruger at a COL of 2.720" (the COL for your gun may have to be different depending on the throat and magazine box length).

We took 3 Whitetails with this Bullet-n-Load this past season with excellent results, even including shooting through both front shoulders on a large Whitetail Doe at 180 yards. A 3 were complete pass throoughs with no signs of bullet breakup. The farthest any of these 3 Whitetails traveled after the shot was about 20 yards.

I know the taking of 3 Whitetails with a given Bullet-n-Load is not very conclusive, but the performance of this bullet-n-load have convinced me to use it again next year on Whitetails.

SD, great report, sounds like I will have to try that bullet as an all around load for deer in my 6BR 8 twist.

I get 2800+ with 105's and 85 should do over 3000, so I put that 95 about 2900 in my 26" I would guess.

It will hold up better than the 105 if bone is hit and/or close range shots are taken, and likely better penetration than the deadly 85 BTHP with more impact.

Yes, with success, but if given the choice, I'll go with the 95 grain Partition over the BT for deer with a 243/6mm/243WSSM. The 95 grain SBT factory ammo for my 243 WSSM works really well, but I was shooting does and could select my shots without the worry of a B&C buck getting away.
