Does anyone load for the 240? I have started load development with my Vanguard S2 and just checking to see how others are making out.

My initial loads are the following:

95gr Nosler CT
RL22 & 7828

95gr Hornady SST
RL22 & 7828

90gr Nosler BT's and Ramshot Magnum shoots sub-MOA all day long out of my S2. I just picked up some of the 90gr Nosler E-tips to try out too, but the BT's are gonna be hard to beat.

I load an 85 gr Barnes X triple shock over 50.0 grains of H414 and a CCI primer. It shoots like at laser at just over 3400 fps, and it is a great long range hunting load for deer size animals. This load consistently shoots sub MOA in my rifle.

If you are just starting with the 240 you will have a great time! With B-Tips, Sciroccos, Partitions, TSXs, what ever, the 240 is deer killing magic. My favorite is the 95 grain Partition followed by the 85 grain TSX and 90 grain Scirocco. 70 grain B-Tips will seem to defy gravity and knock the sage right out of the fastest speed goat. Case life is great if you don't push too hard and stretch your primer pockets. It's just a great round.

I have shot half dozen antelope with mine. Bullets used have been swift scirroco 90, and ballistic tips, 90 and 95. All worked well.
And it is hell on coyotes with 70 gr ballistic tips.

Anyone reloading the lighter stuff....55's or 60's?

As above, I load as light as 70 grains. I thought that was "light".
Shooting 55 and 60 grain bullets in a 240 wby is a lot of powder behind a pretty light bullet.

Nosler lists loads for their 55's that approach 4100 fps mv. I don't think that there would be a whole lot left to any varmint you hit with that.

Look at Ram-shot Magnum with 90 gr or above bullets. I have good luck with it.

Also, I would suggest you develop one good load that will handle mule deer on down. As fast as the 240 is, bullets under 80 gr frankly aren't necessary.

The cartridge is a kissing cousin to the 6mm-284; I like 85-grain Noslers of both persuasions with IMR 7828.
