just thumbed through the American Hunter today, appearently ruger is going to chamber its M-77 in .17 Hornady Mag. Does anyone have an idea on what in the name of all things holy (or in this case unholy) this thing is, or is supposed to do?

It is a 22 rem mag necked down to 17, and loaded with a hornady V-max bullet. Look down this board at the 17 rimfire thread, same thing.
