Got my 1st ever 22-250 today - Weatherby Vanguard if it makes a difference - and I wouldn't mind a little assistance in picking out a good round for turkey, bob cat, coyote etc...
Thanks, Steve

Steve aournd here the shelves have Winchesters USA white box load on them. They come with 40 rounds to the box, usally cost between $15 and $18 and have a 45 grain HP in them.

They have been incredibly accurate in most all 22/250's I've seen them go thru.

This load would be slam dunk the first one I'd try.

Good luck

You bet Steve-find them and give them a run. I would be borderline amazed if you were not very pleased.

Yes...that's a fact....but I've never tried a bad load for the 22-250

This is a very relative thing, but that said I've found there to be loads that shoot ok, loads that shoot well and then there is loads like the one I am speaking about.
At this time I've run it thru a lot of different rifles and this is the one and only that has been consistently scarry accurate in all of them.

I've had good luck with the Winchester white box ammo in both .223 and .22-250, but my .22-250 also likes the value-pack 40-round box of 50 gr Remington ammo.

Steve,
I don't reload either so here's what I do when I get a new gun. I ask around like you've done to get recommendations for a load that shoots well for others in a similar gun. Then I shoot the barrel in with an inexpensive readily available load in a similar bullet weight. Finally I buy a single box of several factory loads in similar loads and see which one shoots best in the gun.
I've been pleasantly surprised on several occasions to see that one of the cheapest loads shot the best. With all of my guns the choice of ammo matters some, but with most it makes a big difference. That's especially true for varmint hunting i.e. smaller targets at longer ranges.

All of my .22-250's love the Remington Core Lok bullet. You can give them a try and see how your Weatherby likes them.

The Winchesters that were mentioned are good as well; the Remingtons just shoot better for me.
