Just picked up a Weatherby in .257 Mag. Does anyone have any experience loading the 120 grain Noslers for it?? As well as performance on deer and the occasional elk. I don't proclaim that the .257 Weatherby is a go to Elk round, but where i hunt whitetail, elk are also abundant.

I shoot 100 grain bullets out of my 257WBY & think it is a great round for antelope & deer. Though I have not shot elk with this cartridge, I would & if 120 partitions shot well in my rifle ( have not tried) I would use them. Good luck. NRA Patron member

I shot an elk with my 257 using the 115 TSX. He was dead on his feet after the first shot, but the guide wanted me to shoot again. Waste of a bullet. If Mike Brady of North Fork made his softs in 257.......even better............. Verbera!, Iugula!, Iugula!!! Blair.

Shot several deer with the 257 WBY using the 120 Nosler Partition. All were instant kills with massive tissue damage and complete penetration. All were heart/lung shots. Would not hesitate using the same load on Elk given a good target presentation within 300m or less. I think the 115 T.B.B.C. may be a better choice though. The bullet you want for the .257 Wby (if it will shoot in your rifle), is the 100 grs TSX. If a 120 grs NP will penetrate sufficiently, so will the 100 grs TSX. Yet, the TSX works well on thin skinned game such as antelope. The 100 grs bullet will allow you get into the velocity sphere where the .257 Wby really starts to shine. Load it over a healthy dose of RL22, and see if it works in your gun. - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon...
