I just traded for a NIB Kimber 84M in .243 Win. I haven't hunted deer or antelope with this small a cartridge but I know it's up to the job if I do my part. The Kimber is a new one for me as well. It looks to be made well for a production rifle--full fiddleback on both sides of the stock, pillar bedded, floated barrel, and a very light, crisp trigger with absolutely NO creep--oh yeah--and it's CRF in case I have to hunt upside down! Anyone have anything (good or bad) to say about these rifles? Thanks in advance for your comments!
I bought a Kimber Montana in .243 earlier this fall. I haven't had time to work up loads for it yet, but have had impressive results shooting starting charges of H380 with three different bullets, just to get the barrel break in completed. The first 3 shot group I fired with 87 gr V-Maxes went into .590. I loaded up some 70 gr Sierra Blitzkings and with 7 shots killed 4 groundhogs and a coyote at lasered ranges of 262-274 yards. I am hoping to get some serious load work done in the next week or two. I've got my trigged adjusted to 2 lbs, and though it is not as crisp and smooth as my Coopers or tuned Remmy, it is a decent enough trigger. I already like this rifle. I am using Burris Signature rings on mine, but prefer the Talley rings and bases I have on a couple of other rifles. Talley stocks two different ring/base options for the Kimbers.

Odd-sounding reasons re the Warne mounts "spec sheets" - the ones I bought fit fine.
As Savage_99 recommended when I bought my M84, you might need high rings. The comb is quite high (helps with recoil in such a light rifle), so you might need greater than minimum clearance in order to get a sight picture.
One other aspect I haven't seen mentioned is the effect of the very short action. The bridge at the rear of the action on which you place the rear mount is particularly short. I find that I cannot mount my Leupold VX-III variable scope far enough forward due to the power adjustment ring. High rings help, but I may put a 4X on it, revert to Medium rings, and be done.

99, just hung up with Warne... the bases are no longer made for the new Kimber 84M's... apparently Warne couldn't get spec sheets from Kimber, got mad and will no longer offer them in 8x40 for the new model. I'd bet the M888 and M842 could be made to work though...
