TO: DON MARTIN 29, I'D VENTURE TO SAY THAT YOU'VE PROBABLY HAD NO EXPERIENCE WITH A ROBERTS OR YOU WOULDN'T MAKE THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS THAT YOU DID. THE DEMISE OF THE .257 ROBERTS BEGAN WHEN THE .243 AND .244 CAME OUT. THE ROBERTS WAS LOADED TO 38,000 PSI, IN MY OPINION, TO MAKE THE NEW 6M/M'S MORE APPEALING, THUS SELLING MORE RIFLES. LOAD ANY CARTRIDGE AT 38,000 PSI AND IT TOO WILL PERFORM POORLY. AS ANY ONE WHO HAS LOADED FOR THE ROBERTS KNOWS, IT IS AN EXCELLENT PERFORMER. THE WEAKEST ACTION IT WAS BUILT ON WAS THE 760 REMINGTON. THE REMINGTON 722, WINCHESTER 54 OR MODEL 70 WAS ANYTHING BUT WEAK. IT WAS A SLICK MARKETING MOVE,NOTHING MORE. I HAVE USED MY ROBERTS EXTENSIVELY, FROM VARMINTS TO LARGE MULE DEER AND HAVE NOT FOUND IT WANTING. IF YOU GET YOUR BALLISTIC INFO FROM THE BACK OF GUN DIGEST, THEN, YES, IT LOOKS PRETTY PUNY, BUT IN THE REAL WORLD,IT SHINES BRIGHTLY! DENNIS HEPNER
